Application & Removal
How do I apply press-on nails with Gel Pads?
For the cleanest, longest-wear finish, we recommend following our tutorial video from start to finish.
Quick steps:
- Choose the best size for each finger (edge-to-edge, without pressing into the skin).
- Gently buff/etch the surface of your natural nail with the mini file (lightly — no pressure).
- Clean and dehydrate using alcohol (70%+) or Nail Prep. Let it fully air-dry.
- Place the Gel Pad about 1mm away from the cuticle line (not touching the skin).
- Warm the Gel Pad with your fingertip to activate adhesion, then peel off the protective film.
- Set the press-on slightly under the cuticle line and press from base to tip.
- Hold and massage firmly for 10 seconds to eliminate air bubbles.
How do I remove press-on nails with Gel Pads?
Removal is quick and comfortable. Use the flat side of the wooden stick included in your kit.
- Gently slide the flat side under one side of the press-on (near the top edge, not the tip).
- Repeat on the other side and alternate until the nail releases.
- Use the pointed end to lift any Gel Pad residue from the press-on or your natural nail.
We recommend watching our removal tutorial for best technique.
How do I apply press-on nails with liquid glue?
Liquid glue is ideal for extended wear. For the best result, follow our full tutorial.
Quick steps:
- Select your sizes and lightly buff the nail surface.
- Dehydrate with alcohol (70%+) or Nail Prep, then let dry.
- Apply a generous layer of glue to your natural nail and a thin layer inside the press-on.
- Place slightly under the cuticle line and press firmly from base to tip.
- Hold steady for 30 seconds.
How do I remove press-on nails applied with liquid glue?
Use the wooden stick to gently lift the nail — never pull it off.
To make removal easier, soak fingers for about 10 minutes in warm water with a little oil and soap, then work slowly with the stick from the sides.
We also recommend watching our removal tutorial for best practice.
Wear, Fit & Comfort
How long do Nailora Gel Pads last?
Gel Pads are designed for an average wear of 5–7 days.
Wear time varies based on prep, lifestyle, and nail shape — some customers wear them longer. For nail health and to avoid water seepage, we don't recommend keeping any set on for more than 3 weeks.
You don't have to wait for them to loosen — you can remove them anytime using the included wooden stick.
For extended wear (about 1–3 weeks), choose liquid glue.
My set didn't last — how can I improve retention next time?
Retention is all about prep + pressure. Here are the biggest "pro tips":
- Clean + dehydrate: Wash hands, then thoroughly wipe nails with alcohol (70%+) or Nail Prep. Let it dry fully.
- Warm the Gel Pad: Rub it to activate adhesion before peeling the film.
- Press from base to tip: Air bubbles are the #1 reason for early lifting. Massage firmly for 10 seconds.
- Avoid water early: No water contact for the first few hours (best: apply before bed).
- Flat nails: If your nails are very flat and the press-on feels "too curved," layering two Gel Pads can help fill the gap for a better seal.
- Be gentle for 48h: Avoid heavy pressure moves early on (opening cans, prying, etc.).
If you consistently get less than 3 days with Gel Pads, liquid glue may be a better match for your routine.
Will I find my size for every finger?
Yes — each kit includes a wide size range (typically 15–16 sizes, depending on the shape), from very slim to very wide.
When your order arrives, you can "test fit" before applying. If you're unable to find a comfortable fit, you can request a return as long as items are unused (see our returns policy).
Can I wear press-ons on bitten nails?
Absolutely. Nailora sets can work beautifully on bitten nails.
For the easiest application and strongest hold, we recommend starting with extra-short styles (or the shortest length available) while your natural nails grow out.
Is there a minimum age to wear reusable press-ons?
There isn't a strict age limit. What matters most is that the natural nail surface is large enough for secure adhesion.
In general, many customers start around 13–14+, but it depends on nail size and comfort.
Can repeated wear damage my natural nails?
When applied and removed properly, press-ons are a gentle option.
The key is to buff lightly during prep — just enough to remove shine. Over-buffing (too much pressure or time) can thin the nail plate over time.
Can I file or trim the press-ons if they are too long?
Yes. Each kit includes a file so you can customize shape and length.
After filing, lightly dust off any residue so the edge feels smooth and polished.
Why do my cuticles hurt or feel irritated?
You shouldn't feel pain. If you do, it's usually one of these reasons:
- Gel Pad placement: too far from the cuticle can leave the base "floating." Aim for ~1mm spacing.
- Cuticle prep: if cuticles aren't gently pushed back, the press-on may sit too high and rub.
- Size issue: a nail that's too wide can lift at the base and irritate the skin.
- Excess pressure: pushing hard on the nail tip (especially early on) can shift the press-on toward the cuticle.
If discomfort persists, remove the set and re-apply with a better fit.
I feel a painful "compression" — what should I do?
This usually happens when there's a mismatch between your natural nail curve and the press-on.
- If your nails are very flat, try layering two Gel Pads to create a smoother seal and reduce pressure.
- If the nail feels "pinchy," you may need a slightly wider size (narrow sizes can be more curved).
Comfort should feel effortless — if it doesn't, remove and re-fit.
Which way do square-shaped nails go?
Square tips have two different ends:
- The sturdier, sharper edge is the free edge (tip). It often has the size number etched on the inside.
- The thinner, rounder edge goes near the cuticle for flexibility and comfort.
Placing them backwards can make the thinner edge wear faster.
I can't peel the Gel Pad protective film — any tips?
Try these quick fixes:
- Make sure nails are freshly washed and fully dehydrated (alcohol/Nail Prep, then dry 20 seconds).
- Warm the Gel Pad by rubbing it before removing it from the sheet and again once on the nail.
- Avoid touching the adhesive with your fingers.
- If the edge overhangs, use a nail to gently separate the film from the tab before pulling.
Reuse & Care
How do I reuse my press-on nails?
With Gel Pads: After removal, lift off any Gel Pad residue using the pointed side of the wooden stick. Your nails should feel smooth again.
With liquid glue: Gently file away dried glue from the inside of the press-on. If needed, finish with a small amount of remover on a cotton pad to smooth the surface.
Then wash the press-ons with soap and water, dry completely, and store them back in the box.
What if I run out of Gel Pads?
Your kit includes enough Gel Pads for about two applications.
If you need more, we offer Gel Pad refills in multiple pack sizes (perfect if you wear Nailora often).
Are Nailora sets water-resistant?
Yes — once fully set, they handle cold and warm water (hand washing, showers, swimming, dishes).
For best longevity, avoid water exposure for the first few hours after application.
How do I prevent the finish from wearing down?
Nailora sets are made to be durable, but like any manicure, they'll stay prettier with a little care:
- Avoid harsh chemicals (acetone, strong solvents, very acidic/alkaline cleaners). Use gloves for cleaning.
- Minimize scraping with sharp objects (keys, rough surfaces, abrasive sponges).
- If your job is hands-on (hair, cleaning, etc.), solid colors typically show the least wear over time.
Removal matters too: lift gently from the sides with the flat stick — never pry from the tip or pull with your fingers.
I lost or broke one nail — do I need a whole new set?
Usually, no. Most kits include multiples per size.
If you're missing your exact match, try the next size up and lightly file the sides for a seamless fit.
Product & Safety
What are the key benefits of premium press-on nails?
- Reusable (with proper care), which is budget-friendly and less wasteful.
- Salon-level look without the salon appointment.
- Flexible wear: one night or up to two weeks+ depending on your method.
- Quick: application + removal in minutes.
- Gentler routine: no drilling, no heavy filing when done correctly.
How are press-ons different from salon acrylic or gel?
Press-ons give you freedom: wear them when you want, remove them when you don't — no commitment.
They also help you avoid common "grow-out" issues (visible gaps, hair snagging). If you want, you can remove and reapply closer to the cuticle line for a fresh look.
What makes Nailora different from typical store-bought press-ons?
Many press-ons are thin, rigid plastic and can feel less natural.
Nailora is designed for a more elevated experience: a comfortable, flexible fit, a clean cuticle area, and a high-gloss, polished finish that looks professionally done.
Our Gel Pad system is also designed for strong hold when prep is done correctly.
What's included in a Nailora press-on kit?
- Approximately 30–32 nails across multiple sizes (varies by shape).
- Gel Pads for about two applications.
- Essential accessories (like a file and a wooden stick) for prep and removal.
Are Nailora products vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes — Nailora is committed to cruelty-free beauty. Our products and accessories are not tested on animals.
Do you offer custom sets on request?
At the moment, we don't create fully custom sets one-by-one.
That said, we love building collections with our community — you're always welcome to share inspiration and vote on upcoming designs.
